The mission of the Wyoming Business Council is to facilitate the growth of Wyoming’s economy.  To accomplish its goals, the Wyoming Business Council helps retain and expand existing Wyoming Businesses and industries; recruits targeted businesses to the state; and works with communities to develop infrastructure to become business-ready.  The Business Council’s divisions include Agribusiness; Business and Industry; Investment Ready Communities; Support Services; Travel and Tourism; and Field Operations.

A. Richard Walje, Salt Lake City, Utah

A. Richard Walje is president of Rocky Mountain Power, with executive management responsibility for the electric distribution operations of PacifiCorp in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming.

Most recently, Walje served as the ranking executive overseeing PacifiCorp's affairs in Utah. In that position, based in Salt Lake City, Walje's primary responsibility was to ensure the company's activities in Utah met the needs of customers and communities. He also was responsible for the corporate business services organization which provided procurement, facilities, real estate, information technology, security and accounting services for PacifiCorp.

Walje began his career as a journeyman lineman in 1976, joining Utah Power & Light Company in 1986 as an electrical engineer. He served the company in several capacities including: senior vice president of shared services; vice president of transmission and distribution operations and customer service; and vice president of customer information systems, transmission and dispatch and information technology infrastructure operations. He also has held positions in business process improvement, substation engineering, quality assurance engineering and construction management.

He earned a master's degree in business administration and a degree in electrical engineering, both from the University of Utah. He serves on the University of Utah's Business School National Advisory Committee, the United Way of Utah Board of Directors, the Economic Development Corporation of Utah Board of Governors, the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors, the Utah Sports Commission Board of Directors, the Utah Shakespearean Festival Board of Governors, Board of Governors of the Coalition for Utah's Future and is chairman of PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning's Board of Directors.
