Gus Fleischli, Cheyenne, Wyoming
Gus Fleischli was born in Rawlins, Wyoming and moved to Cheyenne at an early age. After graduation from Cheyenne High School he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He served during WWII in England, flying 32 missions over Germany. Gus returned to Wyoming and attended the University of Wyoming until a family illness brought him back to Cheyenne.
In 1955, Mr. Fleischli leased the Husky truck stop on West Lincolnway in Cheyenne, from Husky Oil Company and developed three truck stops along the I-80 corridor. In 1989, Mr. Fleischli sold his trucks stops. In addition to the truck stop business he started an oil jobber business, Fleischli Oil Company. This employee-owned business was sold in 1997.
During his involvement with the petroleum industry, Mr. Fleischli served on numerous industry related boards, serving a President of the Wyoming Oil Jobbers Association and a board member for the Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico Oil Jobbers, Vice President of the National Petroleum Marketers Association and President of the Wyoming Trucking Association.
At the present time, Mr. Fleischli s serves as an Advisory Board member to the University of Wyoming’s College of Business. On two occasions Mr. Fleischli received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the College of Business.
In addition to business related organization, Mr. Fleischli served three consecutive terms in the Wyoming House of Representative. He served a six-year term on the Wyoming Highway Commission, as Chairman in 1970-1971. He was a Republican candidate for Governor of Wyoming.
He is the President of Fleischli Enterprises, Inc. and Fleischli Land Management, LLC. Both companies are related to real estate development. |
