The arid high plains and mountain valleys of Wyoming are close to perfect for high quality alfalfa hay production. Controlling moisture through irrigation allows Wyoming hay producers to consistently produce alfalfa hay that is high in protein and feed value. Much of Wyoming’s top quality alfalfa hay is exported to other states for use in the dairy and equine industries.

The Forage Promotion program showcases Wyoming’s premium quality hay and is designed to promote Wyoming hay in the regional and national marketplace.

Program Highlights
Programs included under forage are designed to get more Wyoming hay into the national marketplace. This is achieved through:

  • Promotion at national trade events
  • Web published directories
  • Hard copy published directories
  • The Wyoming Hay hotline
  • The Wyoming Hay List online at www.uwyo.edu/ces/haylist
