The mission of the Organic and Natural Foods Program is:

  • To assist in marketing the natural or organic goods that are produced using sustainable agriculture systems.
  • To promote a sense of community by connecting the farmer and the consumer.

Organic and Natural Foods
Since the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) implemented national organic regulations, consumer demand for products made without the use of synthetic chemicals, hormones, or antibiotics has increased steadily. In 2002, these regulations standardized the production and processing of organic foods, and the use of the term “organic.” These rapidly growing markets offer many Wyoming producers and processors and opportunity to convert their operations to organic and take advantage of organic product price premiums.

The Wyoming Business Council Agribusiness division has designed this program to help educate, connect and guide agricultural producers and processors by providing them with various resources:

  • Information in organic regulations and certification
  • Cost-share reimbursement programs
  • Identifying new, specialty and niche markets
  • Product promotion through regional, national and international trade events
