Anemometer Loan Program
The Wyoming State Energy Office has eleven (11) 50M Anemometer towers, two (2) 30M Anemometer towers and one (1) 20M Anemometer Tower for loan.

The 50M Towers (approximately 162 feet) measure wind resources to determine the feasibility of commercial energy on landowner’s site. The system will consist of anemometer, wind direction vanes, data logger, and a 50-meter tower.

The knowledge of the wind power potential empowers the landowner when negotiating with commercial wind developers.

The 20M tower (approximately 65 feet) and the 30M tower (approximately 100 feet) are for determining the wind resource for small wind systems.

The landowner must acquire any and all permits which may be required, no tower will be installed until necessary permits are acquired and a copy of acquired permit is sent to the Wyoming State Energy Office. Please contact your local planning and zoning agency.

All data collected from the Anemometer is public domain.

The landowner needs to maintain the Anemometer in good working condition, normal wear and tear excepted, and replace and submit the data plugs monthly to the Council.

The towers need to be reasonably protected against vandalism or other damage to the equipment (i.e., cattle).

The landowner is responsible for the installation fee of $4,700 for a 50M tower, there is no installation fee for either a 20M or 30M. A professional installer (previously approved by the Wyoming State Energy Office) will conduct the installation.

The Wyoming State Energy Office pays for the analysis of the collected wind data by a professional, certified analyst. Once the Wyoming State Energy Office receives the data, they in turn will send it onto the landowner.

Upon completion of twelve months worth of data collection, the Wyoming State Energy Office will make arrangements for removal and relocation of the Anemometer.

Any publicity given to the Anemometer Loan Program needs to identify the Wyoming State Energy Office as the sponsoring agency.
