Explore New Markets

The Wyoming Business Council offers export training and coordinates international exporting and marketing opportunities to help diversify and add value to Wyoming’s energy-driven economy during a time of falling commodities prices.

small business export readiness

In 2021, Wyoming companies exported more than $1.4 billion in goods to the world. Of the companies that export, 97.5 percent are small businesses!

Are you a small business that manufactures vehicle components, parts for vacuum pumps, or hand tools? Do international buyers want your Wyoming-made art? If so, the world is waiting for your product and Wyoming has a team ready to provide you assistance to expand into international trade.

The Business Council has partnered with the Small Business Administration, Wyoming SBDC, Wyoming PTAC, and the US Commercial Services to offer free export readiness webinars for Wyoming businesses.

This six-part series will guide you through necessary steps and provide real-world examples from successful Wyoming small business exporters.

Asia Pacific Trade Office

Chester Chu

The State of Wyoming opened the Wyoming-Asia Pacific Trade Office in Taipei, Taiwan, and hired Chester Chu as director in the fall of 2018 after the Legislature allocated money from the state’s general fund to encourage the export of products and services from Wyoming to national and international markets.

Wyoming’s international trade office managers are here to guide you through all the steps of expanding into foreign markets.

International Trade Incentive Grant Program

To increase the value of exports for export-ready small businesses, the Business Council has established a grant program to reimburse up to $4,000 in costs for attending an international trade show or trade mission. Companies can receive three grants per year.

Eligible expenditures include translation services for marketing materials, shipping sample products, and transportation, lodging, and meal expenses for two company representatives. Other eligible expenses may be covered and are outlined in the grant guidelines.

In addition to providing grant assistance, our team helps companies identify effective trade shows for their products or services.

To help other companies understand the international marketing opportunities available, companies that receive a trade incentive grant will be asked to provide a report on the training they receive and the export results they experience after six months and one year.

To learn more about these trade show opportunities, contact Brandon Marshall, our Services Director.
