WYOMING APPLIANCE REBATE PROGRAM
CONTINUES; RESIDENTS CAN STILL SAVE
Statewide rebates of up to $250 for energy efficient appliances available

CHEYENNE –The appliance rebate program which launched April 15 to help Wyoming residents replace older, less energy efficient appliances with newer, energy efficient technology is still available.

“We’ve seen a good initial response to the program,” said Wyoming State Energy Office grants and contracts specialist, Heather Tupper. “We want to make sure that people who are in the market for a new, energy-efficient appliance know that rebates are still available.”

The Wyoming Appliance Rebate Program, managed by the State Energy Office (SEO) and funded by the federal 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), aims to capture valuable energy savings and spur economic growth around the state. Rebates are available for replacement of older appliances with new, ENERGY STAR-qualifying clothes washers, dishwashers, water heaters, and furnaces.  The rebates range from $50 to $250 depending on the product, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis while funds last.

As of April 30th, just over 90 percent of the funds allocated to the program were still available.

“Retailers around the state have reported that a number of customers have made purchases because of these rebates, so it’s been beneficial for both businesses and consumers,” said Tupper. “We want to remind people that this isn’t just a one-day program.”

Details about eligibility and how to participate are available via the program Web site at: www.wyomingrebates.com or 1-877-50-REBATE

To participate in the program, Wyoming residents of single-family homes should:
· Identify ENERGY STAR-qualified appliances by visiting the program Web site
· Purchase and install the qualifying product. While not required, purchase from a local vendor is encouraged.
· Submit a completed rebate application and required documentation within 30 days of purchase to receive the rebate

To monitor available funding, the Wyoming Appliance Rebate Program will use a real-time funding gauge posted on the program Web site.  Retailers, contractors, and customers may consult this tool to keep apprised of funding availability.

To learn about energy efficiency rebates for appliance upgrades, consumers should contact their local energy utility.
