Beef Marketing Workshop set for April 26th in Wheatland
WHEATLAND – The University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service, Wyoming Business Council and the Wyoming Beef Cattle Improvement Association will host a Beef Marketing Workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 26 in Wheatland.
The workshop will start at the First State Bank Community Building with coffee and donuts provided by the Wyoming Business Council. Participants will then carpool to the Klein Feedlot, the location of the Wyoming Beef Cattle Improvement Associations Feedlot Test and Carcass Evaluation program.
Dr. Steve Paisley will discuss current performance of test cattle and present carcass information on the first animals harvested. Paisley will also conduct a demonstration of ultrasound technology and application of this technology.
Sandy Snider with the Wyoming Department of Agriculture will demonstrate the latest technology for animal identification including radio frequency ID and provide an update on the National Animal ID Program. The workshop will continue at the First State Bank Community Building where the Laramie Peak Cattlewomen will serve a free lunch.
John Henn of the Wyoming Business Council will present a program on Marketing Alternatives followed by a presentation by Don Huls on perspectives and insights on feedlot tests. Dallas Mount will provide information on herd management software and its relation to the forthcoming National Animal ID Program.
