Money is available for school exit lights
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Business Council’s State Energy Program has made five grants available to assist schools in purchasing energy efficient exit lighting.
The grants, which are distributed in $2,000 increments, can be requested by sending a letter to the Wyoming Business Council and State Energy Program Managers Dale Hoffman or Tom Fuller. The address is 214 W. 15th Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002.
Schools that have already used the incentive include Douglas High School, Campbell County High School and Rock Springs High School, as well as Cheyenne East High.
According to exitlightco.com, a two-watt exit light which runs on L.E.D. power costs between $20-25 per light and can save between $70-80 a year, per light, in energy costs versus a 20-watt bulb. The L.E.D. lights have a life expectancy of 7-9 years.
There is no restriction from where the lights can be purchased and most school suppliers should carry them, according to Fuller.
The mission of the Wyoming Business Council is to facilitate the economic growth of Wyoming. For more information, please visit the Web site at www.wyomingbusiness.org.
