Wyoming Hay showcased at World Dairy Expo promotion

CHEYENNE - The Wyoming Business Council Agribusiness Division is seeking producers to donate high-quality alfalfa and mixed hay for display at the World Dairy Expo (WDE)in Madison, Wisconsin in early October.

The Wyoming Business Council has been displaying Wyoming hay at WDE for many years, attracting producers from around the world who smell, touch and taste the state’s high-quality hay. Producers who have sent donations to the show have been able to open new markets for their high-quality hay. Producers interested in opening new markets for their hay, and feel the dairy sector could be beneficial, are encouraged to participate in this promotion.

Recommended for display at the show is small square bales or small (less than 12”) sections of large square bales of high-quality alfalfa, alfalfa/grass mix or grass hay. Forage analysis is recommended but not required.

Names of producers, contact information, type(s) of hay available and annual sales tonnage available are included with the display so prospective buyers may contact the producer directly.

Hay donations need to be delivered to central locations within your hay-producing area prior to the week of September 26. To donate hay, find out about delivery locations or for more information, please contact Scott Keith, WBC Livestock and Forage Program Manager or contact the area UW Cooperative Extension Service Office.

The mission of the Wyoming Business Council is to facilitate the economic growth of Wyoming. For more information, please visit the Web site at www.wyomingbusiness.org.
