Wyoming Business Council sponsors Farmers’ Market Conference

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Business Council, as well as the Wyoming Rural Development Council, the Wyoming Department of Agriculture and the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service will sponsor a Farmers’ Market conference Nov. 19 at the Natrona County Ag Resource and Learning Center in Casper.

The meeting is intended to offer vendors and managers of the state’s 17 active Farmers’ Markets a forum to discuss common opportunities, successes and needs. In addition, the meeting will provide information for other communities that are interested in starting a Farmers’ Market, and there will also be discussion geared toward a Wyoming Farmers’ Market Association, which will act as a support system for Farmers’ Markets in the state.
“We are finding more and more people are looking at buying locally and supporting their local farmers and ranchers,” said Ted Craig, the value-added program manager for the Wyoming Business Council. “This effort will help vendors and managers grow their markets within their communities.”

The one-day conference will feature two panels: One to discuss health and safety issues; the other features a panel of vendors and managers offering their perspectives and experiences. The conference beings at 10 a.m. and is scheduled to adjourn by 4 p.m.
Registration for the conference is free and lunch is provided. To register, call the Wyoming Business Council for a registration form at 777.2807, or write Terri Barr, 214 W. 15th street, Cheyenne, WY 82002.

The mission of the Wyoming Business Council is to facilitate the economic growth of Wyoming. For more information, please visit the Web site at www.wyomingbusiness.org.
