National Magazine Ranks Wyoming No. 3 for State Government’s Positive Impact on the Business Climate
CHEYENNE - The November 2005 issue of Expansion Management Magazine has ranked Wyoming number three in its 11th annual evaluation of each state’s impact on overall business climate.
Expansion Management Magazine rates all 50 states based on its Legislative Quotient, which looks at how state governments collect taxes and how they spend the money they collect. The editors for the magazine tried to determine each state’s priorities by examining the budget figures. They looked to see if states spent most of its budget on items like education and roads and a minimum on government administration.
In addition, Expansion Management evaluated how each state invested in the future by determining if they had a commitment to education and infrastructure. Finally, they looked at state trends including tax rates, debt service and spending.
“This is another example of Wyoming receiving national recognition for its ability to build the business climate by investing its resources back into the state,” said Bob Jensen, Wyoming Business Council Chief Operating Officer. “The Governor and Legislature have invested in both human and physical infrastructure in cities and counties throughout Wyoming. We are pleased Expansion Management recognizes our commitment to this growth strategy.”
The only states that are higher on the list are Texas and Nevada. The other two states in the top five include Arkansas and Iowa.
