Submissions are sought for Agribusiness Directory

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Business Council’s Agribusiness Division is looking for farmers, ranchers and other agribusiness-related operations to submit contact information for the 2006 version of The Farm, Ranch and Agribusiness Directory. The directory contains contact information on Wyoming ag-related businesses as well as a description of the business, product or service provided.

The directory is mailed to all producers and businesses listed in it and distributed at trade shows which the WBC Agribusiness Division attends through the year. There is no cost to be listed in the directory and Wyoming Business Council Agribusiness Division Director Cindy Garretson-Weibel said over 15,000 copies of the last ag directory were distributed.
Big Skull Buffalo Ranch is listed in the 2004 Directory. Michael and Gina Schneider moved to Cody from Los Angeles 10 years ago and started the 100-head buffalo operation near Cody.

Big Skull Buffalo Ranch now sells buffalo meat to restaurants and the public alike. Michael says the business has grown despite a tight advertising budget, which consists largely of a Web site and word-of-mouth. His wife, Gina, said the businesses’ listing in Agribusiness Directory is a nice complement to their advertising, saying they get several orders from people in-state, as well as those just coming through town who have seen the directory.
“We try to track our orders and ask them where they heard about us and several people have mentioned the Ag Directory,” Gina said.

The Ag Directory has been in print since 2001 and any rancher, farmer or agribusiness that is currently in the directory is asked to review their contact information and description in either the most recent directory or on the Wyoming Business Council Web site at www.wyomingbusiness.org. The deadline for reviewing the information or submitting new information is December 10.

To submit a listing, or to update a current listing, contact Terri Barr at 307.777.2807. Please include contact information, and a description of your business, product or service.

The mission of the Wyoming Business Council is to facilitate the economic growth of Wyoming. For more information, please visit the Web site at www.wyomingbusiness.org.
