Tour to promote agricultural diversification scheduled for Kaycee

CHEYENNE – Reservations can still be made for the Women in Ag tour co-sponsored by The Wyoming Business Council’s Agribusiness Division and Wyoming Women in Ag. The tour of diversified agricultural operations will be held in the Kaycee area on June 27.
The fourth annual tour will visit operations featuring: goat milk production at Nanny Kid Farms; Nancy Schiffer’s flower gardens and the Kaycee General Store which highlights Wyoming-made products.

A trip to Red Fork Ranch will headline the tour. Cheri Graves will explain how her family has incorporated Indian battlefield tours, guiding and outfitting and direct meat marketing to sustain their ranching operation.

Bob Harlan, the procurement director for the Mountain States Lamb Co-op will kick off the tour at 9:30 a.m. at Harold Jarrad Park in Kaycee. He will discuss opportunities to provide premium quality, value-added lamb products, while enhancing profitability for family farms. Kaycee Ranchers Jason and Radona Williams will also be present to talk about their grass-fed beef operation.

“The purpose of the tour is to showcase the different ways agricultural producers have diversified their ranch and farm income,” said Cindy Garretson-Weibel, Agribusiness Division Director for the Wyoming Business Council.

Cost for the tour is $35 per person for those who wish to ride a bus from Casper to Kaycee and $25 for those who will join the tour in Kaycee.
