Wyoming Business Council sponsors State Fair events
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Business Council will feature a strong presence at the 2006 Wyoming State Fair in Douglas, Aug. 12-19. The Business Council will sponsor the Wyoming Products Pavilion, Farmers’ Market as well as the Hay Show to feature Wyoming’s agriculture and entrepreneurship.
The Wyoming Products Pavilion, which sells Wyoming-made products, has moved to a larger location in the Fort Fetterman Building on the fairgrounds campus. The Pavilion will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Aug. 12-17 and from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Aug. 18-19. Visitors to the Pavilion can find everything from horse hair pottery to western photography and clothing.
In addition, the Pavilion will host several presentations. Among the offerings are:
- Broken Pine Leather out of Casper will do custom leather demonstrations
- Ila Miller from the Woolie Llama, will conduct a felting demonstration
- Aug. 16, is Wyoming Author’s Day featuring Echo (Roy) Klaproth, Larry Brown, Chip Carlson, Arnetta Baugh, Cat Urbigkit and Bearlodge Writers
- The KC Kids, LLC will demonstrate their “Genuine Dirt Shirts” and make shirts in their booth
- Kay Moyer from Cheyenne will teach leather crafts
The Annual Farmers’ Market will offer fresh produce from around the state from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 19 in the Event Tent. Items include vegetables, natural meat, baking mixes and value-added products such as raspberry syrup and honey. The first 50 buyers will receive a tote bag with their purchase.
Wyoming’s high-quality hay will be on display at the Ag and Natural Resource Center on the fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. High-quality dairy alfalfa, mixed hays for the cow-calf producer and the best grass hay for the high-end horse marketplace will be on display. Hay Show entry will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 14. Judging will take place Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the judges will give awards by 5 p.m.
Information about the Agribusiness Division of the Wyoming Business Council will be available at the booth in the Ag Resources Center.
