Rod Morrison resigns from Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Business Council today announced the resignation of Rod Morrison from the Board of Directors.

Morrison resigned from the board to avoid any perceived conflict of interest in a Business Ready Community grant application by the city of Powell. Morrison’s actions did not violate the Wyoming Executive Branch Code of Ethics nor state law.

The board reviews all Business Ready Community grant applications and makes recommendation for approval to the State Loan and Investment Board. The city of Powell has applied for a Business Ready Community grant for infrastructure for a building to be leased by Rocky Mountain Custom Cuts. Morrison is one of the partners in Rocky Mountain Custom Cuts. They are working to develop a U.S. Department of Agriculture certified meat processing facility.

Morrison was recently appointed by Gov. Dave Freudenthal to his second term on the Board of Directors. He was originally appointed in 2003. He served as co-chair in 2005. His current term expires March 1, 2009. The Board of Directors is appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Wyoming Senate.

The mission of the Wyoming Business Council is to facilitate the economic growth of Wyoming. For more information, please visit the Web site at www.wyomingbusiness.org.
