Flobeck joins Wyoming Business Council staff

CHEYENNE – Susan Flobeck has joined the staff of the Wyoming Business Council as Program Manager of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.

The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) is a federally funded pass through grant program from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Wyoming has received an annual allocation from a low of $2.2 million, to a high of $3.7 million.

Flobeck will manage the economic development component of the CDBG program, which helps cities, towns and counties pay for public infrastructure, economic development planning and downtown development. According to Flobeck, public infrastructure can include water, sewer systems and streets, while the planning grants can cover everything from planning for housing to planning for downtown development.

“I wanted to be doing something positive for the state,” said Flobeck. “I feel so fortunate to be working with this group of people.”

A Wyoming resident for the past 10 years, Flobeck is a native of Northbrook, Ill. and received an under-graduate degree in Sociology and Social Services from Northern Michigan University in Marquette. She later earned her Masters in accounting from the State University of New York-Albany. She is a Certified Public Accountant. During her time in Wyoming she has worked at the Department of Education, the State Auditor’s office and the State Department of Audit. Flobeck also has previous experience working with the CDBG program while working with the Tesuque Pueblo tribal government in New Mexico.

"Susan has jumped right in at the Business Council and her talents and experience really complement those we already have working within our division," said Investment Ready Communities Division Director Steve Achter.

The mission of the Wyoming Business Council is to facilitate the economic growth of Wyoming. For more information, please visit the Web site at www.wyomingbusiness.org.
