EnergySmart Buildings conference slated for February
CHEYENNE – Subjects from mechanical systems to energy efficiency in buildings will be covered during a two-day Energy Smart Buildings conference at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne Feb. 15-16. The conference is sponsored by Converse Area New Development Organization (CANDO) and The Wyoming Business Council’s State Energy Program.
The seminars are aimed at architects, engineers and operators of new and existing K-12 schools, hospitals, and other public buildings. They will cover building mechanical systems on Feb. 15 and value engineering and commissioning on Feb. 16.
The seminars are actually two different classes running from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and are free. Lunch will be provided both days and participants have the option of attending just one day.
Day one will cover issues like heating ventilation and air conditioning, as well as indoor air quality and the impact they have on the workplace and school performance.
The agenda for Feb. 16 is aimed at keeping buildings working efficiently from day-to-day and how commissioning a building when it is being built can save headaches during the construction process. Commissioning is a quality assurance process for newer construction and installation, which helps assure building equipment and integrated systems perform as they should. The commissioning guidelines which will be presented were developed through the United States Department of Energy’s Energy Star Program.
Registration for the conferences can be done at www.candowyoming.com/energysmartbuildings_register.htm or by contacting CANDO at 307-358-2000. Lunch is provided at both seminars, but CANDO does request early registration to allow for an accurate lunch count.
The mission of the Wyoming Business Council is to facilitate the economic growth of Wyoming. For more information, please visit the Web site at www.wyomingbusiness.org.
