Wyoming Leadership and Educational Development
seeks members for Class 10
CHEYENNE – Recruiting is currently underway for Wyoming Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Class X, which will start in the fall of 2007. The Wyoming LEAD program is designed for individuals involved in production agriculture or agribusiness. The program strives to enhance participants’ broad-based knowledge, decision-making abilities and leadership skills for sustainable agriculture in Wyoming. To date, the Wyoming LEAD program claims 154 graduates including three members of the Wyoming Legislature – Rep. Lisa Shepperson (R-Casper); Sen. Curt Meier (R-LaGrange) and Rep. Frank Philip (R-Shoshoni).
Each class participates in 55-60 days of seminars over an 18-month period. Ten seminars are held throughout the state of Wyoming. In addition to presentations by various resource people, these three-day seminars include group discussions, tours, workshops and assignments on specific issues. A week-long travel seminar to Washington, D.C. and an international study seminar are also included in the curriculum.
Individual participants contribute to a portion of the program costs through tuition fees. The Wyoming Business Council provides financial support for the program directs the curriculum and administers the program. The Wyoming Agricultural Leadership Council (WALC) is a non-profit organization which raises funds for the program and recruits and selects class participants.
Up to 18 participants are selected after going through a process involving an application and interview with the selection committee. The application deadline for LEAD Class X is July 31, 2007. Anyone interested should contact Kim Porter at 777.6319, 631.2692 or kim.porter@wybusiness.org.
