Wyoming Business Council to hold public hearing on draft rules for the Business Ready Community Data Center Program

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Business Council will hold a statewide public hearing on the proposed rules for the new Business Ready Community (BRC) Data Center Program from 10 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. on July 12 utilizing the Wyoming Video Conference System.

The Wyoming Legislature created the program during the 2007 session. The purpose of the program is to improve data generation and information technology storage capabilities, encourage expansion of existing information technology enterprises, and provide reduced costs of electrical power or bandwidth, or both. The proposed amendments provide for a method of application review, recommendation, establishment of terms and conditions for awards.

The rules are required to implement the BRC Data Storage Program, which will reduce the utility costs for electrical and/or broadband for the recruitment/growth of Tier II, Tier III and Tier IV Data Centers. Currently there is a $5 million appropriation for this program. To obtain a copy of the proposed rules, contact the Business Council or visit www.wyomingbusiness.org.
