Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors meets to approve
Workforce Housing Infrastructure Loan Program Rules
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors will meet via teleconference at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 13.
The public is invited to listen at the Wyoming Business Council office, located at 214 West 15th Street in Cheyenne.
Highlighting the meeting will be the final approval for the rules of the Workforce Housing Infrastructure Loan Program (WHILP). After board approval, the rules will be sent to Gov. Dave Freudenthal for approval, and then filed with the Wyoming Secretary of State’s Office. The Business Council will solicit applications, which are due at the end of October.
During the 2007 session, the Wyoming Legislature passed HB138, which created the Wyoming Workforce Housing Infrastructure Loan Program. The purpose of the program is to provide loan funds to help local governments as well as both tribes pay the cost of building infrastructure such as water lines, sewer lines and roads to the boundaries or through a residential subdivision. This will create lots for the construction of housing for Wyoming workers. A total of $1 million was appropriated in this biennium.
The rules for WHLIP were written with the assistance of a committee of representatives from local governments, the Wyoming Community Development Authority and the housing industry. The draft rules were designed to give applicants considerable flexibility allowing projects that are suited to local needs as long as the basic program guidelines are satisfied.
The mission of the Wyoming Business Council is to facilitate the economic growth of Wyoming. For more information, please visit our Web site at www.wyomingbusiness.org.
