Wyoming Rural Development Council plans Open House
CHEYENNE - The Wyoming Rural Development Council will hold an open house on Monday, Aug.27 from 2-6 p.m. at their new office at 1509 Carey Ave. in Cheyenne.
The Wyoming Rural Development Council administers the Main Street Program, which provides Wyoming communities with opportunities to strengthen local pride and revitalize historic downtown districts by utilizing the Main Street Four Point Approach: economic restructuring, design, organization, and promotion. Laramie, Dubois, Rock Springs, Green River and Rawlins are participating in the program. The program also has a revolving loan fund, which provides low interest loans to help with building renovations.
The Wyoming Rural Development Council, which administers the Wyoming Main Street Program, moved into their current building on July 1 after the Wyoming Legislature moved Main Street Program out from the Wyoming Department of Agriculture to the Wyoming Business Council during the 2007 session.
“We felt with the direction both agencies were going that the Rural Development Council was a better fit under the Business Council,” said Wyoming Rural Development Council Executive Director Mary Randolph. “We wanted to have an open house to offer people a chance to see our new digs and meet our new employees.”
Joining Randolph at the Rural Development Council is Jo Ferguson who will be working as Senior Rural Development Specialist. Randolph said she hopes to have a specialist for the Wyoming Main Street program in place by the open house.
“We are glad to have the Main Street Program in the Business Council,” said Wyoming Business Council Chief Executive Officer Bob Jensen. “It fits with our focus on community and business assistance. Mary has done a great job with community and business development and we are glad to have her on board as part of the business council team.”
The mission of the Wyoming Business Council is to facilitate the economic growth of Wyoming. For more information, please visit the Web site at www.wyomingbusiness.org.
