Innovation in agriculture takes the stage at AIMe Conference

CHEYENNE – The fourth annual Ag-based Innovative Marketing Expo (AIMe) will take place Jan. 8 at the Best Western Douglas Inn. AIMe is one of four conferences and a trade show which make up the Winter Ag Expo Jan. 7-9 in Douglas.

The AIMe conference features sessions and speakers who have found unique ways to market or diversify their agricultural trades. This year’s conference will include presentations on: soil fertility, grass-fed beef marketing, alternative livestock, agritourism, co-ops and alliances, government grants, biofuels and organic certification.
“We really tried to highlight producers who have tried something new and let them tell their story,” said Wyoming Business Council Agribusiness Director Cindy Garretson-Weibel.

Cost for the conference is $50 and includes a lunch made of Wyoming-made products featuring ribs. The registration fee also allows admission to a joint reception with attendees of the Farmers’ Market Conference, which will be held on Jan. 9. For more information on the AIMe Conference, contact Garretson-Weibel at 307.777.6589 or cindy.weibel@wybusiness.org. Registration for the event starts at 7:30 a.m. and the conference itself will end at 6 p.m. Registration can also be done through the University of Wyoming’s conference Web site at http://outreach.uwyo.edu/conferences/conflist.aspx.

The Winter Ag Expo is made up of four conferences and one trade show. Bales and Bovines will kick off the Winter Ag Expo on Monday, Jan. 7, featuring displays for cattle and hay producers offering cattle and hay shows. Roping the Wind, which will also start on Jan. 7, is a conference which focuses on myths versus the realities of energy opportunities for landowners in Wyoming. The Farmers’ Market Conference will wind down the Winter Ag Expo on Jan. 9 at the Best Western Douglas Inn. Registration for the Farmers’ Market Conference opens at 7:30 a.m. and the conference starts at 8:45 a.m. Breakout sessions on organic certification and management practices will be offered at the conference.

For more information on any of these conferences see www.wyoagexpo.com.
The Best Western Douglas Inn is offering $60 rooms for AIMe Conference attendees if you reserve by Dec. 5 and ask for the AIMe conference rate. For more information, call 307.358.9790.
